CONGRATULATIONS to the U13 Girls Heartland Heat who on May 19, 2007 were crowned the U13 girls Iowa State Cup champions! The team won the State Cup championship with a 1-0 win over Ankeny Soccer Club in overtime. The road to victory was very impressive and exciting. The team performed consistently well throughout the State Cup tournament with an impressive 4-0 win over Cedar Valley Soccer Club in the semi finals and an impressive 1-0 win (in overtime) against Ankeny Soccer Club. The Region II Championship games will take place on June 22nd - 27th.

Feel the Heat - Spring 2006

The Heartland U12 Girls Heat won the Orange Division Championship of the Just For Girls Soccer Tournament, April 29th-30th, at the James Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines. The girls battled through driving rains, high winds and saturated fields throughout the weekend to compile a 4-0-1 tournament record.

The Heat beat Wayzata Wapeka from Plymouth, MN 5-0 and VSA Attack from Waukee, IA 2-1; and recorded a 2-2 tie against Toro Salza from Omaha, NE in pool play to finish first in the Division III pool. They advanced to the semi-finals bracket where they beat Bangu Tusnami from the Twin Cities, MN 5-1 to advance to the championship game.

The Heat played the Rapids from Bellevue, NE in the final game and was down 0-2 at half-time, before rallying in the second half for a 4-3 win! Coach Gareth Smith remarked, "this championiship game was absolutely FANTASTIC. The girls played exceptionally well and showed how good they are and can be. The players showed some real mental and physical strength to dig deep in very poor conditions and come back to finish the stronger team."
