During the summer and fall, Heartland Soccer Club’s coaching department offers a variety of camp programs to assist players of all levels (recreational, developmental and competitive) to maintain and further develop their soccer skills and techniques. Heartland and non-Heartland players are welcome!

Micro Mini Camp - Ages 5-8
July 14th - 17th - 8:30 - 9:45 a.m.

The camp philosophy primarily focuses on helping players to HAVE FUN through the use of developmentally appropriate soccer activities designed to correctly teach the fundamentals of the game as well as enhance each player’s skills.

Optimum Camp - Ages 9-14
July 14th - 17th - 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The camp focus will be on all technical and tactical aspects of the game of soccer. Players will be grouped according to their age and ability in order to provide a competitive environment, which will emphasize a professional atmosphere in addition to having fun. The players will work on individual skills, as well as in group/team sessions; and will also be able to compete in mini-team tournaments.

“#1” Goalkeeper Camp/Optimum - Ages 10-14 ONLY
July 14th - 17th
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (goalkeeper)
11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (campers then join main camp)

This specialty camp focuses on the fundamentals of goalkeeping, including technical and tactical skills such as ball handling, footwork, shot stopping, one-on-one, handling crosses, collection and distribution, and overall commanding of the goal area. Qualified coaching assures each goalkeeper their best opportunity for reaching their highest playing potential. HSC is the only club in the state of Iowa to have two U.S.S.F. nationally certified Goalkeeper coaches. Keepers attending this camp will work with a qualified instructor for part of the morning before joining the rest of the Optimum campers. Athletes enrolled in this camp do not need to additionally register or pay for the Optimum camp.

Speed and Agility Camp/Optimum - Ages 13+14 ONLY
July 14th - 17th
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (speed & agility)
11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (campers then join main camp)

The program helps develop key athletic skills including speed, agility, strength, and jumping ability. Using a combination of physical assessment, personalized training and technique teaching, every athlete can maximize SPEED, AGILITY and EXPLOSIVENESS. The athletes attending the camp will work with a qualified instructor for one hour before participating in instructional activities with the rest of the Optimum campers. Athletes enrolled in this camp do not need to additionally register or pay for the Optimum camp.

Heartland Presentation

The HSC awards presentation is an important part of the camp. This is where the campers are recognized for their hard work during the week. EPL and MLS signed soccer balls and shirts are on offer and make up just some of the excellent, highly valuable and hard to find trophies.

Heartland Camp Staff 2008

Heartland prides itself on its credible staff. Aside from a highly qualified local staff, the 2007 summer camp staff included NSCAA college level coaches, ex MLS and USL professional players and highly qualified European coaches.
